Art as Therapy

Disclaimer - No artists please, this is not an art class!

We love people who have never painted or created before!

Art as therapy will see you harness the power of creativity to explore emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve mental well-being. We will do this together with each step.

It allows you to speak your mind and share in the creative process in a safe, welcoming space. As we allow ourselves to immerse in the creative process of colour and textures, our cortisol levels respond, and our endorphins kick into action to allow not just within our minds, but also our bodies to relax in acceptance of the moment.

Your body reacts to what your mind thinks. When faced with danger, our muscles will contract into the fight or flight mode, the same is caused through memory; your body reacts to the memory, whether it is real or not.

These interactions of creating, sharing, and enjoyment release new coping mechanisms through the memory, which we can call on as a tool to use in times when we may not be coping.

Think of it as a wonderful massage for our mind, a releasing of negative tension, sharing, listening, and learning, knowing that in any moment, no matter where we are, we can bring ourselves back to this glorious memory of the simple joy in creating.
